Vehicle Accident with Entrapment in Harrington

On Tuesday September 16, 2025 at 14:00 hours the Harrington and Felton Fire Companies along with Kent County EMS and Delaware State Police Aviation were dispatched to a vehicle accident with entrapment on South Dupont Hwy. in the area of Melvins Funeral Home.  Asst. Chief Derrick Brode arrived on scene and reported a single vehicle exited the roadway and stuck a utility pole, confirmed entrapment and established command.  Units arrived on scene and stabilized the vehicle and extricated the injured subject in approximately 15 minutes.  All aviation units were grounded due to inclement weather.   The injured subject was transported by ambulance to a local hospital for treatment.  The scene was then placed under control, and the scene was turned over to the Delaware State Police for further investigation.  UNITS ON SCENE:  Officer 50-17, Engines 50-5 and 48-4, Squad 48, Ambulances A-50, A-52 and B-48, KM-8, KM-5, Harrington PD, DSP, Delmarva Power and Fire Police.  OFFICER IN CHARGE: 1st  Asst.
